Han har lang erfaring fra shipping og offshore og kommer senest fra Klaveness Marine (2006-2018) hvor han siden 2010 har vært med på å forvalte og utvikle en diversifisert portefølje av syndikerte prosjekter, joint ventures / partnersamarbeid, obligasjoner, børsnoterte aksjer innen de fleste shipping & offshore segmenter. Kvalshaugen var også i flere år Controller i økonomiavdelingen i Torvald Klaveness Gruppen (2006-2010) der han hadde fagansvar for skatt og regnskap. Kvalshaugen startet sin karriere i revisjon hos EY Oslo i 2003 og er siviløkonom fra BI og statsautorisert revisor (Høyere Revisor Studium fra NHH).
